Wussten Sie schon? Der französische Autor Maurice Leblanc erfand Arsène Lupin im Jahr 1905. Ihr Ergebnis

Dialog: The Morning After

Ein Schloss in der Normandie. Die Gräfin spricht mit Inspektor Ganimard.

Countess: Inspector, thank goodness you’re here. My diamond necklace has been stolen!

Ganimard: When did you last see it, madame?

Countess: Last night at eleven. I put it in the safe myself.

Ganimard: And this morning the safe was empty? Was there any sign of a break-in?

Countess: None at all. The windows were locked, and the guard heard nothing.

Ganimard: Hmm. Did anyone visit the house yesterday?

Countess: Only an old priest who came to look at the chapel. Such a likeable man.

Ganimard: An old priest… Madame, I’m afraid your priest was a burglar in disguise.

Countess: Lupin?! But he left a card on my desk: ‘With compliments.’

Ganimard: Then we have our suspect – and, as usual, no evidence.
